Top Ten Tuesday

Today's list is the top ten books I  thought I'd like more/less than I did

So without further ado, in no particular order...

Books I thought I would like LESS than I actually did...

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins	I really wasn't sure about this book when I first looked at it.  I won it in a giveaway in 2010, read the first chapter and thought "that isn't my thing."  Then in 2011 it was all the rage and the movie was coming out so I thought "ok, I'll try this again."  And so I powered through the first couple of chapters and I was hooked.  This was my first dystopian novel and I had no idea I would love it as much as I do.
I judge books by their covers...yes I know it is wrong.  I thought this book sounded a little interesting, but I was not drawn to it by the cover.  I thought it was going to be some silly vampire book just like all the others, but it wasn't.  I really liked this book and I really thought I wouldn't. True Believer by Nicholas Sparks	Honestly, I didn't think I would like this book for the simple fact that Nicholas Sparks wrote it.  I know everyone thinks he is this amazing author was such beautiful stories, but I disagree.  I think he is way too wordy and writes horrible endings.  But, I was pleasantly surprised by this book and I really enjoyed it.
I like Jodi Picoult.  I think she is a very captivating writer.  But because of the topic of this book, I didn't think I would care for it.  I thought it would be too heartbreaking and emotional...which it was...but I still really enjoyed it.	Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
Wife 22 by Melanie Gideon	I wasn't sure I would like this book because it was about an older couple that had been married for quite some time.  I know it is silly to say, since I read so much YA, but I thought I wouldn't be able to relate to the couple in this book because of the age difference.  I was wrong.  This book was really cute and I really liked it.

Books I thought I would like MORE than I actually did...

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins	Don't get me wrong, I really liked Mockingjay...but I didn't LOVE it like I did The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.  It was really good, but I felt like the ending was really rushed and that bothered me.
With a title like that, I thought this book would be really funny.  The author wrote for My Name is Earl (which I loved) and Community (which I liked).  I thought it was going to by hysterical.  But...it wasn't. I didn't like this book at all.	My Boyfriend Wrote a Book  About Me by Hilary Winston
Gone by Lisa McMann	The same thing happened with this book that happened with Mockingjay.  I LOVED the first two books in the series, but the third and final book was just lacking.  I still really liked it, but it didn't excite me like the first two did.
This was a cute book and I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would.  I think that really has more to do with my child's current age than with the book itself.  Had my daughter been a little younger (she's 2), I think I would have related more to this and enjoyed it more. Fifty Shades Freed by E L James	Again, the third book in a trilogy that just didn't live up to the first two.  Either I need to stop reading trilogy's or people need to stop writing them because by the time they get to the third book it just isn't the same.
